Day 21: Take Me Out....

......to the ball game. For those of you that know my wife you also know her love of minor league baseball. When watching either professional or minors, there isn't a game that goes by that she doesn't say to me, "Do you know where he use to play?" She use to bring her radio to listen to the game broadcast, a team mascot, and a scorebook to hundreds of Salem games so she could follow the game. It was neat when we got married to look back in some of her scorebooks to see players such as Matt Holiday in the lineup at a AA baseball game. Just in the time that we have been together, we have been to minor/major league parks in Salem, Lynchburg, New York City, Daytona, Memphis, Atlanta, Washington, Detroit, Winston-Salem, Pulaski, and now Syracuse.

Knowing all of this and also being out of town I really had to stretch to have something for Day 21. I decided to go with the fact that it was the 27th of July and thought that baseball has 27 outs per team during a game. Therefore, I decided that on Monday, July 27, 2009 that for Day 21 I would take her to her first minor league game in Syracuse to watch the AAA Chiefs play the Louisville Bats. The great thing about this game is that the tickets were free if you took in your church program from the day before, so off to the game went my Dad, Will, Sandra, and I. Being the father of course, Dad bought us all a drink and some nachos and we enjoyed a great game, saw a grand slam, had a beautiful evening, and saw a Chiefs 8-5 victory.
